POZEN Names Lisa Zimmerman Vice President, Quality Assurance

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 2005--POZEN, Inc. (NASDAQ: POZN), a pharmaceutical company focused primarily on products for the treatment of migraine, acute and chronic pain and other pain-related conditions, announced today the appointment of Lisa Zimmerman to the newly created position as Vice President, Quality Assurance. Ms. Zimmerman will be responsible for compliance strategies that allow for efficient operation of clinical trials and regulatory compliance. She will ensure that all of POZEN's development programs continue to adhere to Good Clinical, Manufacturing and Laboratory Practices (GCP, GMP and GLP).

"Lisa brings a variety of experience in quality assurance and regulatory compliance that will enhance POZEN's on-going development and implementation of compliance initiatives. In addition, her oversight of on-going clinical trials will assist in ensuring compliance with FDA regulations at both clinical and vendor sites," stated Dr. Marshall Reese, POZEN's Executive Vice President, Product Development.

Ms. Zimmerman was most recently employed at Duke Clinical Research Institute as Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance. Subsequent to joining Duke in 1999, Ms. Zimmerman served as a member of the President's Cancer Panel where she translated research into clinical practice. Ms. Zimmerman previously held positions with ClinTrials Research, Inc., Environmental Health Research and Testing, Inc. and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, Ms. Zimmerman is an instructor in the clinical research masters program at both Campbell University and Duke University in North Carolina.

Ms. Zimmerman received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina and has completed work toward her M.S. from Central Michigan University.
